PROJECT THUNDER
PCAN™ resilient navigation
Mars NavCore™ non-GPS systems Navigation
Our Story
Bionic Mosquito Limited is developing a new generation of sovereign aerospace and resilient navigation technologies designed for operation in demanding, contested, and GPS-denied environments.
The company’s flagship aerospace platform, “Thunder”, was conceived to explore a new class of high-performance vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft that bridges aerospace engineering, advanced propulsion systems, and next-generation autonomous flight technologies.
Thunder is built around a lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque structure, reinforced safety architecture, quad ducted-fan propulsion, and a modular mission systems design. The platform is engineered for high-speed point-to-point operations, extended operational range, and substantial payload capability, while maintaining the compact deployment advantages of a VTOL aircraft.
Designed around an operational footprint of approximately 6 metres by 7 metres, Thunder is intended to operate from constrained environments including ship decks, remote landing zones, and distributed forward operating locations. The architecture incorporates dual turboshaft propulsion, advanced flight-control systems, and configurable mission bays adaptable for logistics, ISR, medical evacuation, maritime support, and specialist operational roles.
Alongside the Thunder platform, Bionic Mosquito is developing the PCAN™ and Mars NavCore™ resilient navigation systems — advanced non-GPS navigation technologies designed to provide reliable positioning, orientation, and navigation capability in environments where GNSS signals may be unavailable, degraded, jammed, or spoofed.
PCAN™ (Passive Celestial and Attitude Navigation) and the compact Mars NavCore™ platform combine multi-sensor fusion, celestial positioning, inertial guidance, optical sensing, and advanced onboard processing to create highly resilient navigation solutions for drones, autonomous systems, aerospace platforms, vehicles, and wearable applications.
The compact Mars NavCore™ architecture is being developed in multiple scalable formats, including ultra-compact systems for small drones and portable devices, as well as larger integrated navigation systems for medium and long-range satellite & aerospace platforms.
From the outset, Bionic Mosquito has focused on efficiency, survivability, scalability, and operational flexibility — developing technologies intended to support the future of autonomous aerospace operations, resilient navigation, and sovereign defence capability.

Who We Are
Bionic Mosquito Limited is a British aerospace and advanced technology company focused on the development of next-generation autonomous aerial platforms and resilient navigation systems for operation in demanding and GPS-denied environments.
Our work combines aerospace engineering, advanced propulsion systems, resilient navigation technologies, autonomous flight control, and modular mission architectures to create scalable systems capable of supporting a wide range of operational and commercial applications.
At the centre of the programme is “Thunder”, an advanced vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) platform designed around a lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque structure, quad ducted-fan propulsion, and dual turboshaft power systems. The platform is being developed to support distributed operations across logistics, maritime support, emergency response, ISR, medical evacuation, and specialist operational roles.
Alongside the Thunder platform, Bionic Mosquito is developing PCAN™ and Mars NavCore™ — resilient non-GPS navigation technologies designed to operate reliably in contested, degraded, or denied GNSS environments. These systems combine celestial positioning, optical sensing, inertial navigation, and multi-sensor fusion to provide reliable navigation capability for drones, autonomous systems, aerospace platforms, vehicles, satellites and portable applications.
Our engineering philosophy is centred on survivability, resilience, efficiency, and operational flexibility. Every system is conceived, designed, and developed in the United Kingdom with a strong focus on sovereign capability, advanced engineering, and real-world operational requirements.
Bionic Mosquito continues to explore the future intersection of aerospace, autonomy, and resilient navigation — developing technologies intended to support the next generation of autonomous and mission-critical systems.
